A recent article by inc published on Apple News makes for interesting reading.
So how many of you in business have experienced these or, go on, confess, have committed one of the 7?

The sins are?
Using Candidates for ideas
Lack of transparency
Inconsistent evaluation criteria
Ignoring diversity and inclusion
Overemphasis on cultural fit
Neglecting candidate experience
Failing to follow up
We have probably all experienced some or all of these. Especially 6. The relationship between HR (People and Talent), the business they work for, the agencies they use, and the experience of the candidates appears to be accelerating apart at an ever faster pace.
With article after article talking about Gen Z and their views on work and work/life balance, we are starting to see some real cracks appear in the way business is conducted. It would be crazy to believe that the media represents every business and every agency because they do not. There are many out there who see this problem and ensure that they get it right.
But many are not. And the media coverage creates a perception which is hard to overcome. Reputational damage is a big problem. If a company that is seeking to recruit you treats you like many get treated in the process, the candidates will think they have had a lucky escape. Its counter productive for the company, its damaging for the company and it is a race to the bottom, perhaps even an act of self-harm. When Gen Z'ers go through this process, their loyalty will be highly limited. The silent and quiet quitting will get worse.
The cycle needs to be reversed. Even when you have a good employer or agency with great recruitment processes, you simply do not know before you engage, and by then, it is too late. Candidates Matter enables those great employers and agencies to get the recognition they deserve. Clear and demonstrable adherence to ethical practices before someone even presses the apply button.
